
Dr Vanessa Perotti

Dr Vanessa Perotti is an Australian trained neurosurgeon with interests in all aspects of neurosurgery including brain, spine conditions and peripheral nerve disorders.
Dr Perotti is a medical graduate of the University of Sydney and completed neurosurgical training at St Vincents, St George, Westmead and Liverpool Hospitals. She has also completed training overseas in Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand and an observer-ship at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, New York and training in endoscopic brain surgery in Berlin, Germany.
Dr Perotti completed her training and was an awarded her Fellowship at of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2017. Post fellow-ship she completed further training in the Northern Territory in neuro-trauma and rural and remote surgery, followed by further training in South Australia where she was awarded a spinal fellowship from Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide.
Areas of interest include – neck and back pain, sciatica, peripheral nerve disorders, spinal disc and degenerative spine disease, brain and spinal tumours, neuro-vascular disease including aneurysms and brain and spine injury-including the management of concussion. Dr Perotti has partnered with local physiotherapists, pain and rehabilitation specialists to provide an evidence-based, comprehensive model of care. She has a particular interest in the management of injured workers.
Dr Perotti has an interest in teaching and research having completed a Master of Health Law at Sydney University in 2014, with a particular interest in quality and safety in healthcare. She has completed research and published with the Clinical Excellence Commission in NSW, worked for major medical defence organisations, critical incident committees and holds qualifications in negotiation and mediation. Dr Perotti is a member of the Medical-Legal Society of NSW and the medical legal section of the Royal Australia College of Surgeons. She is a senior clinical lecturer at The Australian National University and The SAN clinical school. She is a member of the Bioethics Committee for The SAN hospital and she completes regular locums as a staff specialist for the Dept of Neurosurgery at The Townsville University Hospital, QLD.
