Knee Joint Fractures

These can include proximal tibia (below knee) and distal femur (above knee) joint fractures

What is a knee joint fracture?

Fractures of the bottom part of the knee joint (tibia) or of the shinbone are called proximal tibia fractures and fractures of the distal femur are fractures of the top part of the knee joint.

– These fractures are generally caused by a direct blow, car accidents or trauma in younger people.
– This type of injury is a medical emergency and best treated in an emergency department at your local hospital.
