Dr Jonathan Herald is pleased to announce the winner of the 2020-2021 $5000 Dr Jonathan Herald Orthoclinic University Scholarship is Yayang Anna Liu from the University of Queensland who is currently completing her  Doctor of Medicine.

Anna previously completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours Class 1, Discipline of Pathology) at the University of Sydney, where she made the Dean’s List of Excellence for Academic Performance in 2018.

Anna’s application also demonstrated considerable leadership skills including the mentoring of first year medical students in the peer support program.

She is also currently the Deputy Representative of the Australian Medical Students Association University of Queensland and Events Coordinator for the Chinese Medical Student Association (University of Queensland).

Growing up in an impoverished area on the outskirts of rural China also clearly instilled in Anna a deep empathy for the patient experience.

Congratulations Anna!

Dr Herald thanks the many other students who entered for demonstrating such a high commitment to the practice of medicine
